Michael Wang, CEO
Born and raised in Beijing, Michael graduated from Tsinghua University with first class honors before attending Harvard University for a masters in engineering, then returning to China to work at Goldman Sachs on its China investment banking team. He joined Primavera Capital from its inception and helped build it into China’s leading private equity management firm with USD 8bn assets under management where he worked on significant investments in education, technology, and financial services including Alibaba Group, Ant Financial, and Didi.
With previous board directorships at Stratford School, Zhengming Logistics, Dashu Finance, Element Fresh, and Miaozhen Systems, Michael’s unique combination of experience, strategic vision, and Chinese market knowledge helped him establish a talented team of engineers, educators, and designers to found Beacon and bring the world’s educational resources to China through its unique online technology and services platform.
Steve Wang, CTO
An alumnus of Tsinghua University undegrad with his postgraduate degree from Peking University, Steve has worked in China’s most innovative and advanced technology companies, bringing that expertise to Beacon where he leads the development of our world-class technology stack that includes Beacon’s learning management system, live teaching platform, and CRM.
Steve has built an incredible range and depth of experience in game, database, and advertising development. He worked at IBM before joining Qihoo 360 where he led a product development team of over 50 people responsible for the development of the advertising platform and CRM, implementing complex system architecture across varied stakeholders.
Charlie Iannuzzi, President, Global
Charlie joined Beacon after more than a decade in international education and leads its global university program outreach, development, and management, often traveling to America and around the world expanding Beacon’s partnership network.
Upon graduation from Duke University, Charlie went to the Marshall Islands with the INGO WorldTeach; Uttarakhand on a William J. Clinton Fellowship for Service through the American India Foundation; and Shanghai where he taught, worked in student affairs, and admissions for Fudan International School at the High School Affiliated to Fudan University. He returned to America as Director of International Admission and Instructor in Development Economics at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT before returning to China to direct global boarding for Whittle School & Studios.
Annie Ma, SVP Student Advisory & Marketing
A graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Finance and Management, Annie brings Beacon extensive experience in management consulting services. Having previously worked for a number of foreign companies including BMW Group, Temasek Investment Consulting, Moody's Investment, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Advik Capital, and Far East Holdings, Annie’s management and strategic consulting background is critical to Beacon’s rapid growth.
Marrying this foreign experience with the best practices she developed at Yu Consulting in Shanghai, Towers Watson Management Consulting in Shenzhen, and Ernst & Young China, Annie’s unique breadth of knowledge in both foreign and domestic services provides an anchor for the integrated nature of Beacon’s robust tech and services platform infrastructure.
Cecilia Zhong, VP Student Service & Academic Support
Cecilia has worked in the field of education at some of China’s largest and fastest-growing education companies, creating systems and standards that have led to outstanding outcomes for a range of online learners.
At New Oriental Education, Jiangsu Educational Services for International Exchange, and Hayepu Education, Cecilia was responsible for managing the intricate details of complex individualized and team learning environments as well as academic pedagogy construction and optimization.
